TYPES OF JOB IN PORTUGAL

Portugal offers the same types of job as most other European countries. Positions in Administration, Consulting, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Sales, Tourism and Teaching are the major areas of employment/ Work experience and the right education and training are also necessary.

Please note that for nearly every job you will need to speak fluent Portuguese. Work opportunities as an English teacher (or as a teacher for another language) and jobs in tourism are exceptions to the rule and therefore hard to come by.

If you want to apply for a job in tourism you will have to speak at least one foreign language and you should have some work experience.

Another type of job for foreigners could be in infrastructure projects, but in general it can be hard to find a job with an adequate salary for those who do not speak the language - despite of the numerous international companies located in Portugal.
